Athens — The Acropolis

Does anyone visit Athens without going to the Acropolis? Probably not. Photographing it is another matter — by mid-morning the site is heaving, selfie sticks everywhere, the columns barely visible through the crowds.
The trick is an early start. I got there before the heat and the tourists had properly arrived, which in Athens in summer is a narrow window. Even so it was already warm enough to be glad of the shade on the way back down.
This image — the temple against a wide expanse of sky — felt like it wanted room to breathe. Sometimes negative space says more than filling the frame.
