Glasgow's Giant Murals - Sam Bates aka Smug

I was walking down Glasgow's High Street on a particularly miserable and rainy day when I came upon this giant mural painted on the side of the end of a terraced row of houses. I'm a big fan of this sort of public artwork and this one really grabs your attention and brightens up the street.

This is a big hit with other visitors too and High Street is up there in the top ten of Instagram streets. The mural depicts a modern-day St Mungo which references the story of the Bird That Never Flew and is one of several murals in the city. There is even a mural trail you can follow, which I wish I'd known about!

The mural is by Sam Bates aka Smug and you can find more about him here.
